Honorary membership of the Danish Epidemiological Society

Honorary Members of the Danish Epidemiological Society

The Board may appoint honorary members of the Danish Epidemiological Society on the basis of long-standing and extraordinary contributions to the field of epidemiology, the profession, or to the Danish Epidemiological Society. Honorary membership may be awarded to current or former members of the Society and entails exemption from membership fees while retaining all membership rights. Honorary membership is not necessarily awarded every year and is granted only if the Board considers the nominated candidates to be deserving. The guidelines for the appointment of honorary members are elaborated below.

Nomination

All members of the Danish Epidemiological Society may nominate individuals for honorary membership. The nomination must describe the basis for the nomination, including how the individual has made a long-standing and extraordinary contribution. Nominations should be sent to the student secretary of the Danish Epidemiological Society at Dansk.epidemiologisk.selskab@outlook.dk. Nominations may be submitted on an ongoing basis, and all nominations received will be reviewed once a year in February.

Appointment

The Board unanimously appoints honorary members based on nominations received within the designated period. New honorary members are announced at the General Assembly. Upon appointment, honorary members receive a diploma confirming the appointment and are invited to give a short presentation on their own career and contributions to the field of epidemiology.
