DES Fall Meeting 2026 – registration deadline approachin

The DES Fall Meeting 2026 will take place on 22–23 September at Nyborg Strand Hotel.

This year’s theme, Modern Methods in Epidemiology: Mediation, Decomposition, and

Causal Inference, features leading national and international researchers.

The programme will cover DAGs and mediation analysis with Long Nguyen (University of Copenhagen) and Gemma Hammerton (University of Bristol); decomposition techniques with Sam Harper (McGill University); the Causal Roadmap with Maya Petersen (University of California, Berkeley), and different perspectives on target trial emulation with Uffe Heide-Jørgensen (Aarhus University) and Irene Petersen (University College London and Aarhus University).

Alongside the scientific programme, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and build collaborations through poster walks, pre-dinner mingling, and a shared conference dinner at Nyborg Strand.

The registration deadline is 30 August 2026

Do not miss the opportunity to learn from internationally recognized experts and join us for

two days dedicated to modern epidemiological methods and causal inference.

Further details about the programme, fees, and registration are available on the DES website:

Early-career researchers – showcase your research

Are you an early-career researcher with new epidemiological findings or exciting research in progress to share?

Submit an abstract to the DES Lecture Competition for the opportunity to present your research at the DES Fall Meeting on 22 September 2026.

Selected early-career researchers will be invited to give an oral presentation and compete for the DES Lecture Competition Award. This is an opportunity to present your work, gain presentation experience, receive feedback from peers and senior researchers, and discuss your research with the Danish epidemiological community.

We welcome submissions from all areas of epidemiology and encourage researchers at all early career stages to apply.

Submit an abstract of your own research (maximum 300 words) to dansk.epidemiologisk.selskab@outlook.dk.

Submission deadline: 21 August 2026.

Nominate a candidate for the Schroll Junior Researcher Prize

Do you know an outstanding early-career epidemiologist who deserves recognition for their contribution to the field?

There is still time to nominate a candidate for the Schroll Junior Researcher Prize for Excellence. The prize recognises a junior researcher who has demonstrated excellence in epidemiological research, methodological development or application, teaching, and/or dissemination at an early stage of their career. Candidates who have been nominated in previous years but not awarded are very welcome to be nominated again.

The prize includes DKK 5,000, complimentary registration and the opportunity to present at the DES Fall Meeting, as well as one year of free DES membership.

Nomination deadline: 21 August 2026.

Further information about the prize and nominations is available on the DES website:

Bring your poster to Nyborg

Would you like to present your recent epidemiological findings, research in progress, or new cohort at the DES Fall Meeting?

All participants are invited to bring a poster and present their recent research, epidemiological ideas, or interesting data source during the data dating and poster walk at the DES Fall Meeting 2026. Whether you are a student, early-career researcher, or experienced senior epidemiologist, we welcome posters showcasing research from all areas of epidemiology.

No abstract submission is required. Simply send us an email with your name and poster

title at dansk.epidemiologisk.selskab@outlook.dk, and bring the poster on the first meeting day. We will help you mount the poster.

Poster registration deadline: 7 September 2026.

We hope to see posters representing a broad range of epidemiological research and encourage researchers at all career stages to participate.

We look forward to seeing many of you at Nyborg Strand in September!
