Thank you for a successful DES Summer Meeting

We would like to thank all participants, speakers, and organisers for making the DES Summer Meeting 2026, held on 23-24 June in Copenhagen, a great success.

This year’s Summer Meeting focused on Bayesian methods in epidemiology and brought together both international and national experts for two inspiring days of scientific exchange and discussion. The programme featured excellent presentations on methodological developments and practical applications of Bayesian approaches in epidemiological research.

On the second day, DES members participated in a workshop with hands-on exercises, providing an opportunity to explore Bayesian methods in practice and strengthen methodological skills through interactive learning.

We are grateful for the strong engagement and stimulating discussions throughout the meeting.

DES General Assembly

At the DES General Assembly, we were pleased to welcome two new Board members, Sören Möller from University of Southern Denmark and Danni Chen from Aarhus University to the DES Board. We look forward to working with them and to the valuable perspectives they will bring to DES.

At the same time, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Katrine Grau and Stine Schramm for their dedicated contributions and many years of valuable service to DES. Their commitment and hard work have been greatly appreciated and have made an important contribution to strengthening DES and the epidemiological community in Denmark.

The General Assembly also reaffirmed DES’s continued focus on strengthening the Danish epidemiological community through high-quality scientific meetings, methodological training, and support for early-career researchers.

Registration is now open: DES autumn meeting 2026

Registration is now open for the DES Autumn Meeting 2026, taking place on 22-23 September 2026 at Hotel Nyborg Strand.

This year’s meeting will focus on modern methods in epidemiology, with a scientific programme covering topics such as mediation, decomposition, causal roadmap and target trial emulation. The programme features leading national and international experts, including Professor Maya Petersen (UC Berkeley).

In addition to the scientific programme, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a shared dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Nyborg Strand, offering excellent opportunities for networking in beautiful surroundings.

We encourage all members to register early and secure their place. Early bird registration is available until 15 July 2026.

Further details about the programme and registration are available here: DES Autumn Meeting 2026

We look forward to welcoming you to two inspiring days of scientific discussion, learning, and networking.

New Board members

Sören Möller is a professor in biostatistics at the Department of Public Health at University of Southern Denmark. His research focuses on the border area between epidemiology and biostatistics, especially with the aim of translating novel statistical methods into real world epidemiological applications. His epidemiological research topics span broadly, but with a focus on ophthalmology, neurology, general surgery, and hematology in close collaborations with clinicians as well as aging and biodemographic research in collaboration with public health researchers.

Danni Chen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Pioneering Centre for SMARTBiomed, National Centre for Register-based Research, Aarhus University. Her research focuses on the social and environmental exposome of psychiatric disorder onset and subsequent health outcomes, including morbidity and mortality. She holds a MSc in Public Health from Fudan University and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from Aarhus University. Her expertise spans evidence synthesis and register-based research.

New impact factor for Clinical Epidemiology

The journal Clinical Epidemiology, which is strongly anchored in Denmark, just received its new impact factor, which is 4.3. This means the journal is now approaching the top tiers within epidemiology.

Clinical Epidemiology is an international, peer reviewed, open access journal that focuses on the application of epidemiological methods and principles relating to patients and clinical care in terms of prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.

Clinical Epidemiology has a special interest in electronic medical patient records and other routine health care data, especially as applied to the safety of medications and other medical interventions, clinical utility of diagnostic procedures, and to understanding the short- and long-term clinical course of diseases. The journal also has a special interest in clinical and biostatistical methods.

All types of epidemiological articles that are methodologically sound are accepted and turn-around is fast.
